The reason why you say affiliate marketing is not easy

Why it is not easy to do affiliate marketing

The reason why you say affiliate marketing is difficult is because of the high level of competition in it. This is truly a common factor that brings down most affiliate marketers. Imagine a group of marketers battling to promote the same product to the same audience at the same time. Many times, it is a battle of uncertainty but you never knew.

Many people talk about it around this statement ‘affiliate marketing is not easy’ but affiliate marketing is ideal, affiliate marketing is rich, it is diverse and can be a very joyous hobby as well but how diverse is it?

I know there is a group of affiliates out there who see it as a hardcore even though they are already in it. I know what it feels like when someone spends 20 hours a day, 140 hours a week, and the worst of it all, a tone of hours in 90 days of every month trying to promote but don’t see any commission in the end. Trust me you can easily withdraw from this of business if you don’t know how to walk it.

Although there some lucky people who get to earn money within the first month of marketing, they may have used some easy technique in order to get the product sold. In other words, they are just lucky but again, I could say;- they must have been popular on a particular social network so, once they have something to share with friends, they are always wanting to check it out.

Being an affiliate marketer is not very easy though. If you don’t have the passion for it, just like a professional job, once you don’t like it, you are most likely to begin to think of moving or finding the next one.

Why are you being defeated by your competitors

There are so many reasons why your affiliate marketing business is not generating more commissions as other affiliate marketers earn but do you know your niche? Knowing your niche helps a lot in scaling the right and correct content for the product that you are promoting.

Choosing a niche is where most marketers get confused. They come across many affiliate programs &products and will want to promote everything they find no! Don’t do that. You have to find a single program/product or service and promote that specific one as a beginner affiliate. You don’t need to rush into marketing many products like a pro because if you do, you won’t be able to focus at the time, become confused.

Not only that but also, you need to be self-driven. If I have the motivation and belief that yeah, I must make $5- $20 today or $100 this week. I will definitely make it as I dream it to happen.

You don’t need to wait to be told that hey! wake up it’s already time to work. You want to link up with other bloggers, write a post or an article, promote a product to make a sale, or create a video post to your social network to engage your targeted audience.

You need to be competent in your field of marketing, network with other affiliate marketers, share ideas, and be willing to learn from the experts. I am that one person who loves to learn and pass the knowledge to another but here, I write from experience based on what has worked for me as an affiliate marketer in the past.

When I started doing affiliate marketing, two years ago, I had no idea what to do. I knew that it’s all about sharing my affiliate links and that’s all. Little did I know, that sharing a link was just a starting point of marketing a product/service how wrong was I!🤔

Sharing your affiliate link is a starting point indeed perhaps, the first thing to do always after obtaining your affiliate link is to share it in any possible way to your social networks. Social media is the simplest platform I could reach to share my affiliate links. At the time of obtaining a link from your network, you notice that before you leave that affiliate marketing programs’ website, you already have social media sharing buttons right on the screen to enable you to share to social media with a click of a button.

When I made my first commission, $18 dollars was enough to buy me a meal and what a joyful day it was! If I can remember very well, it was 24th-september-2017 and I had just promoted a service one of which helped me to move from beginner to intermediate.

Once you come to the affiliate marketing business for the first time, you will probably want to determine where to deliver your first product link and expect someone to click on it, buys the product so you can get paid. That is how it should happen but is it as simple as these words speak?

It might be a tedious job when you are just getting started because, sometimes, I assume that for someone who doesn’t have a competence in learning how to make a commission from that product, it looks as though they are just gaming.

Huh! Now, that should not in anyway discourage you. I mean I am neither claiming to be a super affiliate nor a pro. I am just a writer who earns by writing what helps an affiliate marketer to earn a commission like me.

Even though I don’t earn much from affiliate marketing, at least it is a proven way for thousands of affiliate gurus out there and I have also proven it. Generally, affiliate marketing requires practical innovative techniques. Every affiliate marketer has a unique way of doing it and that’s what determines how much they make from it.

For the very first time of earning through a commission, you notice that you want to apply the same technique that you had used before in order to target another/next commission but at times, that also fails to yield what you aimed at. Never give up. You have to work hard for it.

Expert affiliate marketers who have truly spent years in the game say that you can promote a product/link up to seven times before a customer finally makes a decision to but it. They need that particular product but there is only one problem. They are not paying attention to you may be because your marketing email is not strong enough to call to action.

After seven days’ time, you should make a follow-up. Run another email campaign to remind them that they should really try your product or service. You must not stop reminding them because, every day, people want up to different needs, and who knows, your product could be the one they want next.

I don’t often run email campaigns but they are a very productive aspect of marketing. And you can only do this when you have an email list. Very important to have. What to put in to practice for a successful affiliate marketing business

  • Find the right affiliate program.

The first step to affiliate marketing is getting the right affiliate program. This is very crucial as it determines the ability to use it. What should the right affiliate network/ program be? It must be that which offers good marketing tools and gives support to its affiliate marketers. The commission value may also determine a good network. If the commission rates ate low, it might not rock your world.

  • Research more on your niche.

The second step after finding an affiliate network is to get to know your niche product. In this step, you will research on your chosen product to find out about your competitors, strategic keywords for that product, and appropriate marketing tools for work.

  • Get to know your competitors.

You must know who your competitors are. In this case, you want to find a solution to the problem of not being able to sell because you are being pressed down. When you want to deal with the enemy, you should probably know their weakness before you do so. In the same way, you should know who is with you in the same niche and see how to challenge them.

  • Decide the simplest way to market products.

Everybody has got a personal choice when it comes to selecting a marketing technique. Hopefully, the most successful one is what I would take. All marketing methods lead to good commissions but it’s only your potential to prove this right. One marketer can decide to go via social media, another through blogging and one other via email. I am sure that you can use all these methods but you have a choice to take.

  • Never give up.

And finally, you’ve got to work hard and never give up. Every planned investment you make will surely yield good results in the future.

Okay! So, now that we are ok with our marketing strategies. I believe you have picked something little from those few points though they were very obvious points to note. I had to consider them too because I am very sure that not everybody who reads this article has ever read about that before.

How to create a landing page to capture leads for your affiliate marketing niche.

Landing pages are built in a variety of ways depending on what they are meant to do. The best way to go with affiliate marketing is having a subscription list to build an email list and grow your sales using a landing page.

It may not matter whether you have a website or not. You can build your email list using any social media platform but preferrably, G-mail can work too.

Now, there are many tools that one can use to build a lead capture page but we may not look at all of them. if you already have a website, then it is going to be very simple for you to set up one but it might have some limitations. For websites which are not built on WP, I think there is an alternative for you as well. So, let us get started with WordPress.

In the past, it was not possible to create landing pages within WordPress. The users of the (WP) data management system over the past couple of years have been using alternative page builders like MailChip and then integrate into their WordPress sites. This was very technical and time consuming but luckily, today we have got a new WordPress experience. The ability to build landing pages within WordPress itself using the plugins.

Now, this might not sound as good to those who are not on a business or e-commerce hosting plan because only the two plans give you the ability to install plugins. For those who are on a basic or premium hosting, you might use an alternative which I will show you later on after WordPress but before we proceed, let me ask you these;

1. Do you have your website hosted on a WordPress server?

2. Are you on a business or e-commerce hosting plan?

3. Do you run a business plan on your site or on WordPress.org? If the answer is yes for all questions I have asked above, then you can build an optin page/ landing page within WordPress using either the Beaver plugin or Chartflows plugin. To get started, you need to follow the steps below.

  • Install any of the above mentioned plugins.
  • Activate the plugin you have installed
  • Edit plugin settings

Once you are done installing and editing your plugin, you can it will be ready for use. The most amazing fact about the Beaver theme is that it allows you to Crete pages according to the purpose for which you want them. You will never create a wrong page that doesn’t work perhaps, it is a free plugin for WordPress websites.

All the above steps are very simple to follow you only need to use a desktop computer to avoid getting confused by the kind of display a mobile device has got. It’s pretty easier that it used to be.

Is it possible to do both the two of these;- affiliate marketing and blogging?

Blogging and affiliate marketing at the same time

Is it possible to be an affiliate marketer as well as a blogger?

You probably have an answer right there I suppose. The answer to this question is yes☑️ and now there needs to be an explanation. Now I strongly believe that we all know what affiliate marketing is and we also know what blogging is. In case you have no idea, I can define these two.

Affiliate marketing is a technique of promoting products and services belonging to a certain organisation/business with the aim of earning a commission once a product is bought through your link.

Also, blogging, from the word blog, is referred to as writing bulk content inform of texts, pictures, and videos to pass a message to people through a medium known as a blog/ website.

Examples of blog websites

So, now we see that the two words and very different from each other but we might also want to know the people who get involved in these activities of promoting/marketing and writing content. And the names of these people are actually derived from the same phrases, for example, an affiliate marketer and a blogger.

Ideally, there is a possibility that one can be an affiliate marketer and at the same time a writer/blogger, and here is why.

First, I want you to know that the two ideas are not equal in the normal sense because one is the main topic and the other, a subatomic.

Affiliate marketing can be made a subtopic in a blog website but a blog can not be a subsidiary for affiliate marketing. So, when one starts a blog and begins to write content on it, it is very easy for them to decide what content to publish on their blog. In this case, affiliate marketing may come in.

With a blog, they will be in a position to write all categories of content but of course, they have to be specific on only one or two topics. Affiliate marketing is available in every topic you may choose to write about in your blog. It does not matter whether you are writing to educate, entertain, express your feeling, or to inspire. The affiliate marketing part of it will still be available.

A Picture blog example

Once you have written content for a blog post, you decide to include affiliate links within your content in a professional way, and that way, you are writing and at the same time marketing a product(s).

There is total no problem with doing both affiliate marketing and blogging, in fact, blogging stands as a foundation for you to promote your links because it is where you are most likely to generate traffic. Besides social media, a blog is the first priority always.

I hope I have made it clear to everyone who had the same question in mind.

25 Affiliate Best Practices

1.    Always be selective when choosing products to promote. Products need to be relevant to your audience and high quality. The business needs to be honest and trustworthy. Remember, this is your reputation on the line.

2.    When promoting products, don’t focus on the price of the product but the benefits buyers will receive. If there is a unique offer or discount price, that’s a bonus.

3.    Ask your audience for feedback. Ask what they are struggling with. Ask how they like what you are emailing and writing about. Ask if they purchased a product through your recommendation, how they are linking it or what results they are seeing. Showing you care helps build strong bonds with your audience.

4.    When promoting affiliate links, ensure your posts or emails offer plenty of value. It should be able to stand alone, whether or not you include a promotion.

5.    Don’t promote without a plan. Start with the goal of your campaign, then search for right product to promote. Randomly promoting products can lead to low commissions and worse, broken trust with your audience.

6.    Don’t sell or include affiliate links in every email you send. Subscribers get tired of being bombarded with offer after offer. Send some messages that just talk about what you’re doing or offer a tip or two without any type of promotion.

7.    Spend time building relationships with your subscribers. People who feel connected with you are more likely to trust your word and buy based on your recommendations.

8.    Look for programs that offer a good commission, 25% or better if possible for example, Jvzoo. Those offering low commissions may not generate enough commission for your effort.

9.    When searching for products or services to promote, see what the movers and shakers in your niche are promoting. Industry leaders often vet the companies they promote quite well before recommending them.

10. Track your opens, clicks and buy statistics to see which product sell well, which types of promotional material generate the most sales, which headlines get the most opens and so forth.

11. Look for businesses who offer affiliates pre-made content to help you promote their products. You can often find emails, images blog posts, list of benefits, sales angle suggestions and more from companies.

12. If products from a particular company is popular with your audience, but the company’s affiliate center is lacking, contact them to see if they could provide you with some pre-written material.

13. Ask your audience what their favorite companies, products or types of products are. Ask what they look for when buying products. This will give you an idea of which features you need to look for when searching for products to promote.

14. Make sure you reach the maximum number of people possible by ensuring your website and emails are optimized for mobile devices. If your audience cannot read your messages, they cannot buy.

15. Take time to learn about what makes great headlines, lead-ins and call-to-actions. Better headlines lead to more opens. Better lead-ins get people reading and better call-to-actions generate more sales.

16.  If you’re doing a big promotion, and including bonus items, create a custom landing page for the offer. On this page, include details of what people get not only from the product you are promoting, but your bonuses as well.

An example of a product offer that can be downloaded after someone signs up on you your list.

17. Make use of all types of content to promote the products. Some people prefer reading, others would rather watch a video, some may prefer to hear from you live. The more ways you reach out to your audience, the more sales you’ll make.

18. If you don’t already have one, choose a reputable email service. There’s nothing more frustrating than spending days creating a great email campaign only to have a big portion of your messages get blocked or filtered.

19. Make sure your website and lead magnets are up to par and offer excellent information. The bigger you grow your list, the more exposure you get for your recommendations.

20.  Segment your list so you can better match product offers to subscribers. The closer the match, the bigger the sales.

21. Test higher priced products with low-to-mid-range products to see, on average, how much your audience is willing to spend.

22. Don’t forget to promote complimentary products. For example, if you promote a training course on losing weight. The next week or so, you could promote a more specific product that compliments weight loss.

Weight loss is one product category that has got more and more traffic compared to all the others in the market. of

23. When promoting a special offer, mention any upsells available. This gives your audience a heads up that they will be presented with more than one offer. …but do so in an excited way.

24. Ask companies if you can use their product photos in your promotions for the product. They will usually allow it and may also let you pull a few points from their sales pages to use in your promotions.

25. Regularly check your affiliate links to make sure they are still working.
